The Northern Territory state government have called for expressions of interest in relation to their $225 million road development.
The project will consist of delivering a large portion of the Central Arnhem Road upgrade – a 700-kilometre road connecting ultra-regional communities to the Stuart Highway.
The project involves sealing, reconstructing, widening, and flood immunity improvements to priority sections of the route to a fit-for-purpose standard.
Early works will consist of planning and investigations to prioritise sections of the road for a continuing series of improvements within the next five years.
The component recently put out to tender is the contract to seal 6+ kilometres of gravel road, the major access road from central to Northeast Arnhem Land.
The expressions of interest close on August 11.
Funding for the project has been jointly established by both the federal government and Northern Territory state government.
Preliminary works are predicted to commence in mid 2020, with an estimated completion date in 2021.
The completion date for all projects are set for mid-2026.
This road upgrade project was recently highlighted by the Northern Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission as a crucial infrastructure project for the state’s economic recovery.
